Dabstract cannabis concentrates

Dabstract Joins Forces with Cannabis Extraction Pioneer in Motor City

October 30, 2020 ● BY Hana Rexroth

Dabstract, a premier cannabis extraction brand, will launch in Michigan in early 2021

Detroit, Michigan, October 30, 2020 — Dabstract, an award-winning recreational cannabis extract brand, is expanding across the country with a launch date in Michigan slated for February 1.

Dabstract is known for its premier, top-shelf concentrates produced in Washington state. A multiple Dope Cup and High Times Cannabis Cup winner, Dabstract is also in the process of expanding into California, Massachusetts and Canada.

The brand’s foray into the midwestern cannabis market is the result of a partnership with extraction industry pioneer Josh Mayo, a Detroit native.

“Josh Mayo is one of the most influential forces in cannabis extraction in the country,” said Derek Thiel, Dabstract’s Chief Operating Officer. “Our team met Josh in 2015 when we were just starting production in Washington, and we couldn’t be more excited about partnering with him to bring the Dabstract name and the unparalleled quality it stands for to Michigan cannabis connoisseurs.”

The collaboration between Dabstract and Mayo’s company, Atwater Management, will begin with the release of cannabis vape products in the form of PAX Pods, with additional Dabstract products to be released down the road. Products will be available to retailers throughout Michigan.

“The marriage of Dabstract and Atwater is at its core a relationship based on innovative collaboration,” said Mayo. “I have dedicated my life to the pursuit of the perfect vintage of oil for consumers who accept and deserve nothing less, and I know that the Dabstract family has been on the same journey. We couldn’t be any more excited to show all of Michigan what can happen when two truly passionate companies’ technology and processes collide.”

While Dabstract was founded on the West Coast, its founders view the mid and eastern parts of the country as a pivotal part of the future of legal cannabis.

Since Michigan has a longstanding medical program, the consumer market is much more educated and demands a higher end consumer product than other newly legal states, according to Thiel. “This is where we thrive,” he said. “We wouldn’t trust our brand to anyone other than the talented folks over at Atwater to ensure that it is represented as the high-end connoisseur brand we’ve built from the ground up in Washington.”

This year has been a bad one for chronic anxiety, This year has been a bad one for chronic anxiety, quality sleep and general optimism. As a result, perhaps, it has been a good year for the cannabis industry. Cannabis companies in the slow-growing U.S. market have reported record sales, with queues around the block at dispensaries in states where retail sales are legal.

And investors have rushed to cash in on the opportunity. In the days following the U.S. election, when five states with various cannabis legalization measures on the ballots voted in favour, cannabis shares saw spiking trading volumes on day-trading apps such as Robinhood and eToro. The top five shares traded on Robinhood the day after the election were all cannabinoid companies.

But analysts say that despite investor enthusiasm for the legalized cannabis industry, questions remain over its medium-term growth prospects and challenges remain for those looking for access to the actual U.S. cannabis sector.

One of the favoured routes into the industry has been through cannabis ETFs, which saw global inflows jump to US$122 million for the month of November, completely driven by U.S. ETF flows, after a monthly average of US$14 million over the previous year, according to ETF data provider TrackInsight.

However, cannabis ETF holdings have significant overlap. There are few investment-grade cannabis companies in the sector and the funds instead often contain a large percentage of companies that specialize in sectors such as property or fertilizer. The overlap with other cannabis ETFs can be as much as 68 per cent, according to TrackInsight.

One cannabis-related property company in the U.S. makes up almost 9 per cent of all holdings across the 10 cannabis ETFs analyzed by TrackInsight. British medical cannabis company GW Pharmaceuticals Plc and hydroponics supplier GrowGeneration Corp. are also heavily represented in the ETFs.
